Yap Ming Hui is the founder and managing director of Whitman Independent Advisors Sdn Bhd, a leading independent financial advisory firm (RM2.78 Billion asset under advice) in Malaysia which specialises in helping clients optimise their money and achieve financial freedom. Whitman is licensed by the Securities Commission and Bank Negara Malaysia.

Yap’s personal advisory clients include some of the major owners of public-listed companies (PLCs) on Bursa Malaysia, CEOs of multi- national corporations (MNCs) and successful small-and-medium enterprise (SME) companies.

In 2008, inspired by a cold call from a single mother seeking independent financial advice, Yap decided to adapt his wealth management solutions to fit the needs of every Malaysian. The solution he created for her, the ‘Roadmap to Financial Freedom’, is showcased in his book, Roadmap to Financial Freedom.

In the past, Yap hosted a regular column in the New Straits Times and in Sin Chew Daily. From 2001 to 2002, he was invited to host a wealth management column from in THE EDGE, Malaysia’s leading weekly business publication. From 2003 to 2004, he hosted a regular column in STAR Bizweek advising high net worth individuals on wealth management issues.

In 2007, Yap was invited to share his expertise as the recurring guest for Financial Biz Buzz on the radio station, Lite FM. From Apr 2010 to Aug 2011, Yap shared financial tips and views on NTV7’s The Breakfast Show. Yap hosted the Financial Freedom Minutes segment on NTV7 every Tuesday morning.

Currently, once a month, Yap contributes to a column in the STAR Bizweek on Saturdays called Money and You. When time permits, he also contributes personal finance book reviews for THE STAR newspaper. Other than the ones mentioned above, Yap’s comments and views continue to be frequently sought by established national print and broadcast media such as BUSINESS TIMES, MALAYSIAN BUSINESS, INVESTORS DIGEST, BLOOMBERG and ASTRO.
